Friday Props #88 - Useless

It’s clear that the internet is an invaluable tool in modern society, and it’s chock full of interesting, useful, items, all just a click away. Last weeks props came at you with a collection of useful tools from around the web. That being said, today's props go out to some of the most useless websites we could find. Those that dare to embrace the freedom of the internet to do nothing of particular use. We’ll open with a throwback to an internet sensation circa 2006, Loituma Girl. Also known as the leek spinner, this clip is a prime example of some of Read More >>

Friday Props #87 - Useful

Todays props go out to some of the incredibly useful tools of the internet. From planning your next vacation to figuring out what to watch on Netflix, there’s a plethora of projects on the web that help make your life easier. First up is Adioso, a great flight comparison tool for those who want to travel, but don’t have specific dates or destinations. Adioso allows the use of natural language in its search tools. For example, you could search for a flight from Boston to Northern Europe for about a month, and you’ll be given a variety of destinations, dates, Read More >>

Friday Props #86 - Pattern

Props broke its stride last week, but we’re stepping back up to the plate with a plethora of props worthy findings. This weeks props celebrate patterns! Patterns have garnered human attention for some time; for their ability to add intrigue, organize, or even visually obscure objects. First up is a project by Claudio Guglieri and Tim Holman. http://thepatternlibrary.com is a library of gorgeous, repeatable,  patterns, free to download, use, and share. The project is open for submissions as well so hopefully, given time, it will become an extensive resource. Second up this week are some artists using pattern extensively in their Read More >>

Friday Props #85 - Scale

Friday Props 85- Scale Today’s Friday! But what does Friday mean, aside from Friday Props? Friday is a day in a week, in a month, in a year, in a decade, etc. But Friday only has meaning if it has context. Todays Props go out to those who have wondered about, and visualized various scales. From time, to size, to bytes, data has been given context through visual interpretation and, spoiler alert, it’s cool stuff.   Here Is Today is an interactive, visual representation of time created by freelance designer/ illustrator Luke Twyman.  The visualization features a diagram of today Read More >>

The time when machines are going to be smarter than us and take over the world is fast approaching… oh, wait.. what? Scratch that, literally. Google created an artificial brain that had 16,000 computer processors. When it was let loose on the internet it watched thousands of videos of CATS. To make sure that I was prepared for this fascinating and probably addicting binge of cats, I meandered over to urbandictionary to look up a few key terms. 1. Cat: The definitive pet. Cleans self. Knows how to catch its own food. Probably gave humans the idea for a “vacuum”. Is intelligent and curious. Read More >>

After a brief hiatus (blame the snow?)- Friday Props is back! This week the focus is on a highly under-appreciated form of art: body painting.  There is a taboo with this art form because of the *gasp* nudity and the impression that it can not be "fine art". Our goal at Edgeworks is to look at all forms of creativity (hence Edgework CREATIVE!) and broaden our horizons as well as those of our clients and friends. It's all about thinking outside the box- or in this case... The canvas.  Johannes Stötter shows that body painting CAN be fine art.            Johannes is an expert Read More >>
