In a first for Friday Props we are handing out posthumous Props to Lotte Reiniger for her amazing breakthroughs in early animation techniques, and by early we are talking full-length feature film animation ELEVEN YEARS before Walt Disney produced Snow White. (Is it us or does it seem that women inventors rarely get the credit due at the time of their invention?) It's one thing to use existing tools to create something, but it is quite another to invent tools to allow you to express your vision. Her work on the film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) involved devising the first form Read More >>

It's been a pretty hectic week here at edgeworks creative, so i'm keeping the theme going with a Whirlwind Edition of Friday Props. Here Goes! First up is this time collapsed video of kites on the beach. It's a fitting start to this eclectic collection of propsworthy coolness. It's neat, need I say more? Next up is this mock campaign to build a 300 mile wall around San Francisco. Why? To keep burning man participants from returning of course! The video featured below is fairly amusing itself, but the site itself (http://megagogo.co/) completes the experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO_r6ndZRZY How Read More >>

Friday Props-Covers, Acoustics, And A Little Bit Of Art.

I'm always a fan of a well done cover song. There's something to be said for the community created by sharing and appropriating music. So when I stumbled upon the series AV Undercover I had to give it props. Each series they draft a list of songs to be performed, then bring in artists who have to perform one of the songs from the list. The results are pretty spectacular. Here are a few of my favorites so far. Punch Brothers cover The Strokes' "Reptilia" Screaming Females Cover Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" Of Montreal covers The White Stripes' "Fell In Love With Read More >>

Friday Props- The Dreamy Dreamscape Edition

It's astounding how quickly a week goes by, but it's mind blowing how many cool ideas are dreamt up in such a short time. So here's to dreamers and their dreams. It's Friday Props: The Dreamy Dreamscapes Edition. I'll start off with some space props, because who doesn't dream of space? NASA is commemorating 50 years of space walks with a Documentary Entitled "Suit Up". Additionally they've put up a page on their site focusing around the milestone. Featured in the site is a gallery of images that are astoundingly cool. Check them out here. https://www.nasa.gov/suitup/spacewalks https://www.nasa.gov/suitup My next props goes to some Read More >>

Friday Props- The Super Cute Shorts Edition

It's a beautiful June day here in Vermont. Perfect weather for some super cute shorts. No, not overalls or ones with fun patterns. I'm talking animated shorts on this weeks Friday Props- The Super Cute Shorts Edition. First up is Hola Llamigo. It's cute. It's short. It features a living, breathing piñata.  It fit's the bill perfectly. Second in this weeks lineup is this animation for Calvin Cardioid's "Everything To Me". Featuring an adorable astronaut and some mellow tunes, it's a super cute adventure short. Half

I’ve been on a bit of a motion graphics kick this week, so I’m going to be giving props to some crazy cool animations this edition of Friday Props. I’ll jump right in by giving props to Spacetime Fabric Softener, an animated short by Professor Soap, who labels himself as A "purveyor of audiovisual candy". You can check out his website here, but I’d start by watching the short below, which features a highly playful visual treatment to deliver a light and playful story. https://vimeo.com/66903521 My second props goes to a stop motion animation by graffiti artists Blu and David Ellis.
