Props going out this week to the New York City Tax Department. No, really! Between 1939 and 1941 the New York City Tax Department collaborated with the Works Progress Administration to collect photographs of most of the buildings in the city at the time. 

In 2018, the New York City Municipal Archives completed the digitization and tagging of photos and placed them on a Street View map allowing us, almost eight decades later, an opportunity to see the city in surprising ways.

The Archives, of course, deserves Props for the website experience which also includes features such as story lines and outtakes. It's all eerie and beautiful and props-worthy. Go take a look.
