This week we give Props to the Human Library Organization for their work on moving us toward a more inclusive, understanding, and non-judgemental world.
The Human Library® is a not for profit learning platform, that has hosted personal conversations designed to challenge stigma and stereotypes since 2000. The Human Library describes itself as a library of people. They host events where readers can borrow human beings serving as open books and have conversations with people who come from groups or backgrounds that may be subject to prejudice, stigma or discrimination becauise of their beliefs, social status, lifestyle, diagnosis, disability, race, ethnic origin or other aspect of their life.
The lirary hosts events virtually as well as (in non-pandemic times) in-person at libraries, museums, festivals, conferences, schools and more. You can think of it as a book tour of sorts.
Props going out for building understanding between people, letting go of judgement, and building a kinder, more inclusive future for us all.
