GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING!!!
That's a mighty hearty welcome to you because ... well ... you deserve it.
First up is what looks at first to be a sad, inflatable purple donut. But dig a bit deeper and not only do you find beauty in the form, but also the meaning behind the inflatable (that part was true) concert hall.
This odd structure is part of a collaboration between British sculptor Anish Kapoor and Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. It is the world's first inflatable concert hall and is set to tour the northeastern coast of Japan for the Lucerne Festival Arknova 2013.
Fully inflated the Ark Nova provides surprising beauty inside it's nearly 60 foot high ceiling and 115 foot wide hall. Its first stop is at a park in the town of Matsushima, where thousands of lives were lost and where cultural facilities were wiped away during the tsunami in 2011. Benches for the concert have been made from ceadr trees destroyed during the tsunami.
What do you get when you mix large scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering? Props. Friday Props.
You also get the following video from Bot & Dolly - a design and engineering studio that specializes in automation, robotics, and filmmaking. The short video titled "Box" explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping on moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera.
And for the final Friday Props of the week we turn to color. How well do YOU see color?
This test will help determine how well you perceive color and will identify areas of the spectrum that you have difficulty with hue perception. We'd love to see some of your results in the comments here on the blog or on Facebook.
